A Guide to EnergyPoint’s Customer Satisfaction Ratings, Grades and Trends

EnergyPoint Research’s customer satisfaction ratings are unbiased and aggregated opinions of the marketplace. They are differentiated tools for evaluating the quality and performance of energy industry suppliers.

Our ratings are not intended to be a prognosis or recommendation (that’s not our role).  Rather, they are intended to measure the perceived performance and quality of suppliers. This includes tracking trends over time.

All ratings, unless otherwise noted, are derived from 10-point scales, with 1 indicating a respondent is “Highly Dissatisfied” and 10 indicating “Highly Satisfied.” Access to ratings are available through our detailed reports and online portal.

At times, we convert our ratings to scores to help readers understand ratings performance relative to the long-term average of companies across the industry. A score of 100 is the industry average. Scores above 100 are above-average. Scores below 100 are below-average.

At times, EnergyPoint presents its ratings in qualitative terms using grades. Grades range from “VERY HIGH” to “VERY LOW.”  We also award companies up to 4 stars depending on their rating. Grades and levels are heavily weighted on survey results collected within the prior 24 months, a period believed to capture customers’ most relevant perspectives.

Trends in ratings are based on the change in a company’s rating observed within the last 12 – 24 months. Treds are categorized as “UP”, “STABLE” or “DOWN” using a set of five directional arrows.

The tables below explain the conversion of ratings and scores into grades, stars, trends, etc.
